***The following is a text message that was sent to our Clemson Family the morning of Clemson’s match up with LSU in the National Title Game***
~I did my duty as a noble Tiger fan. I was courteous to no end. I held the door for them in their own city, listened to their snark “Tiger Bait” all weekend long, complemented their team and discussed players they didn’t even know they had. I’ve eaten the oysters (both raw and char-grilled), ate the beignets at Cafe Du Monde, stared at the Mississippi River, meandered down Bourbon Street, and crushed some great seafood along the way, all while gladly doling out $2 bills. A homeless hustler even shined my shoes without my permission. The courtesy’s end today, as we retain what’s ours. Yes that’s correct, despite all the noise and rhetoric, we never relinquished the crown, hell, we never even let anyone attempt to sit on the throne.
All that and I’ve come to one simple conclusion:
There’s only one Clemson. These LSU fans are confident, as they should be, but there’s something they just don’t quite understand like we do; family, namely the Clemson Family. There’s something in our hills only we understand. We got our education in Clemson, South Carolina, and the best part about that education is it made us a family.
I know our opponent and our faults as a football team, but that family I speak of….that’s what will lead us to victory tonight. It can’t be replicated and looks foolish when imitated.
The arrogance and bravado is so thick this morning, it’s like a fucking slime. Turn on ESPN this morning….two former LSU players picking LSU. Yawn. There’s no logic or reasoning just SEC, blah blah blah, schedule, SEC, blah blah blah and a bunch of mumbling. No respect for the opponent. Blatant rude, lack of professionalism, zero journalism, just open fanboy bull shit. The same two clowns that have been running their mouth like idiots all year. Consider me not shocked. They’ll slither away like a snake after we win. Feels exactly like it did as I got ready for the day in my hotel room last year. Exactly. All y’all didn’t learn did ya? These SEC folk never learn. Y’all about to learn today. Yet again, you need a lesson, and we’re here to provide said lesson as 16, 9 are the professors.
You get to practice in the dome while we do a walk through in a hotel. You got the easier path in the playoff. You get to play an hour from your campus. You have every advantage possible. Good for you. Just don’t lose beaux, because you’ll simply have no excuse when you do.
Walking into Lions den today Clemson fam, and it ain’t gonna be for the faint of heart, but thats just how we want it.
Remember that time we all went to the Natty in Phoenix and Church got drunk and forgot the words to his own song? The man’s the Titts, and Clemson is 55-3, playing for 3 more natty’s since that day. We ain’t no fucking underdog, we’re the Kings of College Football and we plan on keeping what’s ours. Fuck LSU. Go Tigers.~
***Post game look back:
What an amazing experience that trip to New Orleans was. I said it before and still feel the same way today; win or lose it’s worth the experience. Playing LSU in New Orleans for a National Title? That is likely a once in a lifetime experience, and it was an awesome experience all around, that was soaked in great food and booze amidst two passionate fan bases.

That experience represented College Football well, and you can’t ask for more than that. As far as how the game went, they were the better team in the end. We didn’t have the DL in 2019 to win a National Title and it finally caught up to us. Sure we could of run ETN more in the second half, but the game was lost when we didn’t capitalize on all the defensive stops we came up with in the first half. We had some calls go against us, and losing Skalski hurt, but that’s ball. We couldn’t afford those things to happen and win the game, but those things do happen and good teams overcome them in the games they win, as we’ve witnessed Clemson do in many of previous contests. Remember when Alabama attempted to behead DW4 and Mike Williams, only for the official to attain yellow flag amnesia? Bush league as it gets, but we’ve had our fair share of things going our way over the years as well. 4 was superman as it wouldn’t of mattered anyway, as the end result was a Clemson Title in that moment. Anyway, once LSU got the offense clicking and we failed to sustain drives, the game was over. It may have been closer, but they flat beat us on that night. Sure we could of called the game differently offensively, but you can’t blame us for letting 16 sling it. Capitalize on those opportunities, or execute in general, and its a different game, but 16 had a bad day. That happens. Hell, the kid’s been on campus 2 years and posted 29 wins vs 1 loss. For a touch of perspective: Nebraska tallied a 9-15 record in the same time frame. 31% of the time Trevor Lawrence played football Clemson, Nebraska Football managed to win a football game. Think about that last sentence.
Many a prize fighters would take our record, especially given the heavyweight competition we’ve faced. Winning isn’t easy and LSU had a special collection of talent 2019. Hats off to them. LSU is a team that is always loaded with talent, that’s just missing that QB piece and offensive play calling. They got the perfect storm with Burrow and Brady that year, but I can guarantee you they want no part of Clemson in 2020, and reflecting on that loss, I take solace in knowing we’ve built a year in, year out, sustainable power house under Dabo. Dabo wasn’t lying when he said his goal was to build a consistent top 15 program, as he’s done that, we’ve just overachieved and become a consistent top 5 program instead. No complaints from this Tiger fan, even after this loss.
